From October to December, the Faculty of Philology provided training for a group of children from Syria, aged 8 to 18, with varying levels of Russian proficiency. First they received basic instruction, which included reinforcing phonetic, lexical, and grammatical skills, as well as developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities. This was followed by studying using test materials adapted for different grade levels. The total volume of the "Russian as a Foreign Language" programme is 320 academic hours.

Upon completion of the course, the students took a language proficiency test. Based on the results, certificates were issued to those who have successfully completed the programme.

Yulia Litvinenko, Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, shared her thoughts on working with the children:

"From their very first visit to our university, the children felt right at home. The friendly teachers, active students, comfortable learning conditions, and interesting spots around the building – including the paintings and sculptures – all captured the young Syrians' attention, sparked genuine enthusiasm, and motivated them to learn Russian. A friendly, working atmosphere prevails in the classes. The kids are not afraid of difficulties; they help each other, diligently complete assignments, enjoy watching the cartoon "Masha and the Bear", and share their dreams of a happy and peaceful future."
