The international creative symposium ‘Promoting Sustainable Development Goals through Art’ dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University was held in Almaty (Kazakhstan). It was attended by 25 famous artists from Russia, Korea, Slovakia, China, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and 30 university students.
Among the participants were Ekaterina Demyanova and Lilia Erokhina, students of the Faculty of Arts of Omsk State Pedagogical University. The team leader from our university was Geymran Sultanovich Baimukhanov, Professor of the Department of Academic Painting and Drawing.
According to the organisers, the main goal of the symposium is to create and strengthen professional artistic space through international cooperation on sustainable development goals, contributing to the development of creative potential of talented students.
The participants visited the training seminar ‘Multimedia exhibitions from the white box of a non-standard museum’, attended master-classes ‘Art education in the field of contemporary art and the use of innovative technologies’, gained experience in the application of various teaching methods using modern technologies.
During the three-day symposium, renowned artists and students performed creative works on the themes: ‘The Truth about the Mysteries of the World’, ‘Art Saves the World’, ‘Art for the Preservation of the Ecological Environment’, ‘Gender Equality Family Value’ and plein air studies of the nature of the Alatau Mountains.
On the second day, teachers and students painted two sketches of freely chosen objects of nature in the direction of realism. The sketches focused on the search for a compositional solution, colour and shade.
The organisers of the event created all conditions for the opportunity to exchange creative experience, improve partnerships between domestic and foreign artists and students. The participants felt the strengthening of cultural and spiritual connection between nations through the visual arts.
‘The university received me with such warmth and love that I was indescribably delighted. We painted from morning till evening, and ate lunch right from the easel. It's every artist's dream! I thought it could only happen in a fairy tale. I am very grateful to my teachers and the university for this invaluable experience and fulfilment of student dreams,’ said Ekaterina Demianova.
According to the results of the International creative plein air, a competition was held and a catalogue of creative works of the participants was published. The final exhibition and round table with the participation of invited guests, art critics, students from Almaty universities were held, where diplomas, certificates and prizes were awarded to the participants of the symposium. The jury consisted of professors-teachers and famous artists of Kazakhstan and foreign universities. At the end of the symposium, each participant presented author's works to the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University.
The team of Omsk State Pedagogical University returned with victories. Geymran Sultanovich Baimukhanov, Professor of the Department of Academic Painting and Drawing, was awarded an honourable diploma. Ekaterina Demianova was awarded the second degree diploma of the International Creative Symposium ‘Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals through Art’, and Lilia Erokhina was awarded a diploma in the nomination ‘Gender Equality Family Value’. We congratulate our team and wish them further victories!
