In the Rhythm of Friendship

01.11.2024

This year there are many significant dates for our country, including diplomatic ones. Cuba is a long-standing friend and reliable partner of Russia in Latin America. Relations between our countries were established in 1902.

Cooperation in the field of education is actively developing. A Joint Laboratory of Advanced Computer Technologies has been opened, and about 100 agreements on inter-university cooperation are in force. Russian education is traditionally in demand among Cuban students – there are about 300 people currently studying at Russian universities.

Various events are held annually to strengthen cultural ties between students of the two countries. Recently, an international teleconference was held at Altai State Pedagogical University as part of the project "Cuba-Altai: Cultural Alliance". Students studying on exchange in Russia and Cuba took part in the online conference "Rhythms of Friendship: Russia-Cuba".

One of the conference participants was a student of Omsk State Pedagogical University, Ernesto Hernandez, an artist in love with the Russian language. Three years ago, he came to Omsk from the old Cuban city of Santa Clara at the invitation of the university. Now Ernesto continues to study Russian at the Faculty of Philology, is engaged in painting, helps Omsk students learn Spanish and at the same time learns the culture and traditions of our country. This year, he entered the master's degree program.

At the online meeting, Ernesto, together with his colleague from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, read poems in Spanish about his homeland. The audience witnessed this warm dialogue filled with an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding. We hope that this event will become an incentive for further cooperation and strengthening of ties between the youth of our countries.
